Frank Job – Logging & Forest Management Project

Location: Newberg, Oregon

Project Summary:

This project involved full-service logging and forest management, including permitting, property and stream flagging, access road planning, and selective harvesting. Fir trees were harvested while preserving oak trees, with logs processed and delivered to multiple mills. Permanent culverts were installed to protect waterways and provide the landowner with new long-term access. Post-logging cleanup prepared the site for replanting and supported future forest regeneration.

Project Details:

The Frank Job showcases Rieger Logging’s full-scope approach to responsible, well-planned timber operations—from permitting and site preparation to harvesting and post-logging land stewardship.

The project began with securing the required permit from the Oregon Department of Forestry, ensuring the operation met all regulatory and environmental standards. Our team then carefully located and flagged all property corners and boundaries, along with identifying and clearly marking streams that required protection throughout the project.

With the site prepared, we finalized a detailed logging plan that included marking new access roads and landing sites needed for safe and efficient log truck operations. As part of this phase, we installed permanent culverts at stream crossings. These culverts not only protected water resources but also created long-term access roads, giving the landowner new, permanent access to the back portions of the property that were previously unreachable.

Harvesting operations focused on selective and responsible forestry practices. Fir trees were cut and processed while oak trees were intentionally preserved. The harvested timber was yarded, processed into logs, sorted by mill destination, and loaded for transport to designated mills.

Once logging was complete, the site was cleaned and prepared for the next phase of the forest’s lifecycle. Branches and brush were gathered and piled to support replanting efforts, allowing the landowner to establish new fir seedlings. Larger log sections and naturally decaying wood were intentionally left scattered throughout the cleared areas to provide wildlife habitat and serve as natural fertilizer for future growth.

This project reflects Rieger Logging’s commitment to precision planning, environmental responsibility, and long-term value for landowners—delivering not just timber harvesting, but a thoughtfully managed forest operation designed for sustainability and future use.

Client Review:

“Coby is an exceptional logger and human. He goes above and beyond with finding the best price for your logs and in his service. He logged 20 acres for my family in a little over a month. When a delivery van made a poor decision and tried our wet logging road, Coby pulled them out and declined payment, saying the story was worth the work. After the logging, I had a tree fall on my roof. Coby was one of the first people I contacted and he was there first thing in the morning to remove the detritus. He could have charged at least an arm for this, but, again, was extremely reasonable in his price. Hire Coby to log your trees. You won’t be disappointed.”
